This year has brought with it so many new families. And not just any families, but one’s that breathe new life into the authentic love and connection I yearn for in my business. I have met some of the most beautiful of souls and it clearly shows as we work our way through a session together.
One thing I am constantly learning how to do is to read each family–figure out their sweet spot. Sometimes it happens quickly and then sometimes it takes a few while we warm up and get to know one another. This family though, they just showed up and the session flowed naturally and beautifully.
I also love when parents just let their kids be kids. Let them be goofy, silly…show their true spirit. After all, isn’t that what you want captured forever?…..Your little humans as they were in that very stage of life? Don’t you want to be able to pick up a photograph and smile, because that precious picture brings a rush of feelings and takes you back to where you can hear their squealy laughter, feel the way their cheek felt as you smooched them, and suddenly that one smidge of a stage you promised you would never forget….and you did’t because it was frozen in time. I can’t even believe all the little moments or saying from my boys that I never thought I would forget, until I see a reminder pop up and then I realize that yes, I did in fact forget that little moment. How thankful I am for those little reminders and photographs to help jog my memory a bit. Because let’s be honest, I need all the help I can get sometimes!
